Jackson turned 9 yesterday!! The day before we were dumped on!
Over 2 feet of snow , that's big here in eastern PA. After digging out all day Saturday, we had time to play and go for a birthday ski. Jackson was in his glory, breaking his own trail, leaping and bounding in some very deep snow! Happy Dog! Afterward we had the usual Birthday song, he refused to wear that silly party hat, and gobbled down his homemade doggy-cake. Followed by a cream cheese encrusted aspirin, (I know he'll be aching).
Out for the rest of the day!
Its been a good year. Jackson is sweeter, gentler, calmer, more obedient.
He still has some of his wild mischievous puppy-like moments. I glad for that, other wise he would not be Jackson! .He makes me laugh every day!
He seems to know how precious our 3 and 5 year old grandchildren are and is on his very best behavior when they visit. Unfortunately the live far, and its not often.
My step-daughter married this summer and we had a big post wedding picnic in our back yard, Jackson was definitely the "best dog." A couple of years ago, I could not envision him roaming around 50+ adults and children being absolutely charming.
At one point, he really slowed down. Scolded by the vet, I put him on a diet, a weight loss of 7 ponds and 2 glucosamine a day really helped.
December, he had another lumpectomy (because of his cancer history),
Fortunately, it was benign.
So that is the update on my "Boy".
There is plenty of snow slill around, we'll go for another ski, then take a nice long nap together before I go to work tonight.
